I can build and manage databases. Coming from the non profit world, I build them on the least expensive platforms available. I can't build the networks to distribute them, but I can code for security and user access, and integrate many kinds of input. I have 8 years in public health finance and grants management and twenty years in higher ed: humanities. I want to help, Tom. Some people around me see me as overreacting to the news today, to the risks to all of my career areas, to the degredation of my very value as a 61 year old with mental health challenges and arthritis in my dominant hand. Let me help.
I am a senior level coder and can help too. I've been a webmaster for decades. Put together a tech team. Also people like Bernie Sanders have had plans for a generation, and he will never be allowed to execute them because big biz has it too good right now. But he's got the know-how.
I'm not sure that it fits in a policy platform of this nature, but another thing that might be smart to include is something about steps to be taken to address the abuses of human rights and the democratic system during this period. This could be modeled on steps taken in other countries that have slid into authoritarianism - typically, there is some kind of truth commission, which may or may not engage with the criminal justice system, and which can lead to identification of and redress for victims, recommendations for steps to prevent similar problems in the future, and in particular (for us) "Security Sector Reform," which usually means the military, but in our case, unless things get a lot worse, would mostly mean ICE.
I guess step one would be to gather together a list of non profits, academics, groups, politicos, and individuals who may have already started, or outlined items. I assume many others have at least a “concept of a plan”🤣 written out. Also maybe a good rereading and structure analysis of Project 2025’s document wouldn’t hurt. In terms of underlying structure. No need to reinvent the wheel.
I have gone through Project 2025 pretty extensively. I actually have written an outline of a basic “Project 2029” but I need more input from people smarter than me. We could use it as a baseline but that would be about it.
Hi Tom, Spectacular idea. I'm basically useless with all of the logistic or policy stuff, but what comes to mind immediately for me is Tod Maffin - He successfully set up a platform, a discord to invite American health care workers to apply to work and live in Canada. It started with him and his community on Vancouver Island less than 8 months ago and is now a national thing, with communities all across Canada opting in. He gives them his template to create their own local chapters. Within the discord, there is big picture health care policy info and people, local administrators, local health care workers(volunteers all of it), community members - all at the ready to answer questions for people looking to apply, then further welcome them as they arrive. Questions about the work, the communities etc. It's more targeted to one idea that Project 2029 would be, but perhaps that's the rub here. People with interest and expertise in one (policy/agenda) area (from many different backgrounds and locations on each discord, which further can populate a united vision for all of it, the whole policy related approach to a new way of aligning to the social aspects of supporting all of society rather than a select few. While supporting the environment and outlining sustainability and education into evolving sectors to support that new ecology. My question is, shall I ask Tod for tips? He's done it singlehandedly as grass roots and is wildly successful with it. He's also a storyteller and a good human, reminds m of you!
I can start contacting legislators with expertise in the areas listed and try to obtain copies of documentation for public use (for example, Senator Warren on banking and consumer protection).
That would be amazing. I am also working on an outline of things I think should be covered. I’m thinking more and more we need something like a discord to keep everything organized
I will make a list of who I contact and what I get so we don't duplicate efforts. Once we have a place to store everything I'll upload what I get. Also, I think AI might be useful to summarize whatever white papers I am able to obtain. Then the documents and summaries can be turned over to the workgroups.
Fantastic; I've been asking why the Dems never bothered with a Project 2025 or even 2026, when the GOP had the Powell Memo in 1971... I love this idea of a grassroots movement with people working together, connecting. May I add one working group which overlaps with some of the ones you mention: the more-than-human world and how we relate to it. How we currently treat the soil/Earth, plants, non-human animals is not sustainable, not acceptable. The cruelty of the current regime mirrors our collective cruelty: species going extinct hundreds of times faster than the natural background extinction rate. Factory farms, CAFOs. Animal testing and research. All of this causes immense cruelty, and yet we accept it. We need an empathy/compassion boost! Not sure how you can build this in, but to me this is fundamentally important. We, humans, need to perceive our connection with the "not-me", or better we need to experience that there is NO "not-me", because that's an illusion, a mis-perception. Sorry, there I go again. But I'm sure this is crucial.
Tom, did you ever see the movie "Dave" where Kevin Klein is mistakenly the president and he sits down with a yellow legal pad and starts to try to write up the national budget long hand.
It's this simple.
Write down your ideas and make an outline of how things should be.

Before you know it, you have an entire plan. It doesn't have to be difficult, just smart and concise.
Clearly and powerfully articulated; thank you Tom. But we have to keep in mind we don't have 30 years of cultivating progressinve-minded judges, and the 2025 people know they don't need legislation or even candidates because they control the interpretation of the laws. That said, I'll find my place on this job.
I have been saying and thinking this EXACT same thing. We are unprepared, and this will lead to a weak response that will be plain bandaids without excising that bad infection down inside.
I’m on board, in whatever ways an almost/maybe retired architect can help. Concerned American who honestly hates Cartesian lines drawn on maps that are called borders, and one who knows that attention to details, earlier than later, is critical to a successful outcome. I am currently unemployed right now, which at one level allows for more free time, but then there’s that money issue— currently just a free subscriber.
DM me here or at Instagram at @douglasbrimhall_artifacts. I’m all in on a Project 2029– but to be honest, let’s start with a Project 2027, with the first chapter to be called “New Congressional Leadership For This New Era”.
I spent most of my career as an independent contractor medical transcriptionist/medical record reviewer. As I worked at home, I was my own IT, researcher, and language specialist. Information hunting/confirmation/accuracy is a specialty.
Priorities have to be making sure we have stronger guardrails against a coup-plotting traitor becoming president and incessantly wiping his ass with the Constitution and rule of law without consequences, lobbying and campaign finance reform (probably need a Constitutional Amendment for that one), and democratic reforms that make representative government real again. And maybe the biggest most important one is how to fix our harmful media shitscape.
Hi Tom I replied yesterday I would be interested in getting involved with this. I tried to dm you but couldn’t. So please let me know what I can do to help you. I am not a professional writer but have many ideas for this.
We must push this forward. It is beyond frustrating that there is no alternative vision or narrative that lays out a coherent and realistic path forward. It is another failure of the Democratic leadership. Project 2025 was never a secret, was made public long ago, and the Dems are still wandering blind and mute in the desert. What an Epic Fail.
You writing this made me go look, and it looks like some folks have already started: https://www.project2029.me/
It looks a bit less inclusive than I envisioned in your version, but it can't hurt to connect!
I didn’t realize that but I would love to have them contribute

In your opinion what would be the best way to organize people and information?
@Courtney 🇨🇦 I tagged you because you are brilliant 🫶🏻

All ideas are welcome

Yes please! So far everyone is telling me we need to set up a discord.

Before you know it, you have an entire plan. It doesn't have to be difficult, just smart and concise.
This is what I see-
Build the framework (happening now)
Fill in the details (continuous)
Refine and fact-check (continuous)
Share widely (as soon as sections are solid)
Update as needed (when policies change, when we learn more)
Clearly and powerfully articulated; thank you Tom. But we have to keep in mind we don't have 30 years of cultivating progressinve-minded judges, and the 2025 people know they don't need legislation or even candidates because they control the interpretation of the laws. Awesome idea, Tom. I think something big is going to start rolling! Thank you for writing about this, you’ve got a lot of readers.
Hopefully we can get this started soon

I am in process of listing all the people that want to help now.
I can check and edit AI summaries (suggested in another comment) for accuracy. I can review website content. I can research.

I saw that Lori. As soon as this gets better organized, I will let you know.
